Behind the name Boombox Barbershop, is the concept of community and gathering around a boombox listening to music. This reflects a typical day at the barbershop, where upbeat tunes are played, fresh sneakers are seen about, hair is on the ground and live sports are being watched on TV.

In line with this, the brand identity is a culmination of owner Dez Smee’s interests in streetwear, hip hop, sports and the art of barbering. Funky typography and modern interpretations of hair clipper combs are combined with illustrations depicting these interests, and after 5 years of opening; Boombox has become a local spot to not only get a fresh cut, but to catch a football game with friends.
